Import tax rate for cars in Nepal: Price update after budget 2080/81
With the government changing the duty levied on electric vehicles, the companies have acclimated the prices of the vehicles. Among the colorful four- wheelers available in the request, the prices of some models have increased and some models have dropped. Some companies are dealing buses at old prices.
While the prices of models like BWD’s bus- 3, MG ZS EV, and Hyundai Kona have increased, the prices of Hyundai’s Ionic- 5, Tesla’s Model 3, and Y have dropped. The price of Nissan’s electric Leaf remains the same. also, there’s no change in the price of Henry’s Mincar and Wuling’s Air EV.
The government has assessed a 10 percent customs duty on electric vehicles for private purposes up to 50 kilowatts starting in the fiscal time 2080 – 2081. before, the duty was 10 percent on electric vehicles over to 100 KW.
The budget has increased the duty on electric vehicles from 51 kW to 100 kW by five percent to 15 percent. also, ten percent excise duty is also charged on these vehicles.
Customs rates have increased on vehicles between 51 kW and 100 kW, but on vehicles above 100 kW, they’ve dropped. For 101 kW to 200 kW, the duty has been reduced from 30 percent to 20 percent. Its excise duty has also been reduced from 10 percent to 20 percent also, there was a 40 percent duty on electric vehicles with a motor capacity of 201 kW to 300 kW. Now 35 percent is made. Its internal duty rate is still 45 percent. The customs and excise duties levied above 301 kW also remain unchanged which is 60 percent. The price of the vehicle has changed with the new duty rate.
1. Hyundai
The price of Hyundai’s electric vehicle, the Ionic-5, has been reduced by 14 lakhs. Hyundai’s official distributor for Nepal, Lakshmi Intercontinental, has fixed the price of the Ionic-5 at 102,960,000 rupees. Before this, the price of this vehicle was 16 million, 96 thousand rupees. Ionic-5 has a capacity of 125 kW. So far, the company has sold more than 50 Ionic-5s.
The price of the Hyundai Kona has increased. The price of Kona with a 39.2 KW lithium-ion polymer battery has increased by 40 thousand rupees to 64 lakh 96 thousand. According to the company, around 800 vehicles have been sold since Kona was launched on the market.
2. Tesla
Tesla’s official distributor in Nepal, Arit International Pvt Ltd, has raised the cost of the models it sells. There are currently two Tesla Model 3 and Model Y versions on the market.
Before the budget, the price of a Model 3 with a 54-kwh battery and a 198-kw motor was 1 crore 55 lakh; after the budget, the price has been reduced to 1 crore 35 lakh. On a single full charge, this model has a range of up to 450 kilometers.
Similarly, Model Y comes in two varieties: Standard and Long Range. With a new price tag of Rs 189 lakh, the standard sports a 209 KW motor power and a 54 KWh battery pack.It will have a range of 400 kilometers on a single full charge, according to the manufacturer.
The Model Y Long Range sports a 291kW motor and a 75kWh battery. It was originally priced at 24 million before the budget, but the current price has been set at 199 million. This variant’s pricing has been cut by 41 lakhs all at once. It has a range of 525 kilometers on a single full charge.
So far, the company has sold more than 40 vehicles on the market. In addition, the company is planning to produce a new model in the near future.
3. BWD EV MODEL
The BWD Otto 3 is now available in two variations on the market. The Otto 3 with a 100 kW motor and a 64.48 kWh battery pack costs Rs 65 lakh, 88 thousand. Its price has risen by 98 thousand rupees.Previously, it ranged from 64 lakh to 90 thousand.
The cost of a 150 KW motor and a 64.48 KWh battery pack is set at 81 lakh 99 thousand rupees. Previously, the price of this model ranged from 89 lakh to 90 thousand rupees.
In addition, the company is planning to release a new Otto 3 model with a 100 KW motor and a 50 KWh battery pack.This variant’s market pricing ranges from Rs 55 lakh to Rs 99 thousand.
In addition, the company sells E-6 and M-3.A 44.9 KW lithium-ion battery powers the M-3.It has a power output of 100 kW and a torque output of 180 Nm.This vehicle is priced between Rs. 46 lakh and Rs. 95 thousand.
Similarly, the E-6 includes a lithium-ion battery pack with a capacity of 71.7 kW. 4. Nissan
Pioneer Motocorp, Nissan’s official distributor in Nepal, has similarly not modified the pricing of the electric Leaf. According to the corporation, there has been no price adjustment because it is selling used vehicles. The Nissan Leaf is equipped with a 110 kW motor and a 40 kWh battery pack.
The current market price of the Leaf is 64 lakh, 99 thousand rupees. According to the firm, approximately 200 Leafs are currently on the market. Although the business has not set a new price for the Leaf, it is possible that it will cost up to Rs 1.5 lakh when it is offered in the new lot.
5. MG
In Nepal, MG Motors is the official distributor of Paramount Motors. The price of MG’s ZS EV Deluxe with a 99 kW motor capacity has been raised by Rs 50,000. The previous price of the MG ZS EV was 52 lakh, 49 thousand, and the current price is 52 lakh, 99 thousand.
6. Neta
Chaudhary Group’s CG Motors has raised the price of the Neta V by one lakh rupees. Neta V, with a 70 KW motor and 38.5 KW battery pack, has a new market price of 38 lakh, 99 thousand. Previously, the price of this automobile was fixed at 37 lakh, 99 thousand rupees.
Neta U Pro will be available soon, according to the business. Its cost is yet to be determined.
7. Tata Motors
Sipradi Trading, Tata’s authorized dealer, has yet to disclose the revised rates. The Nexon EV, which has a 30.2 KW lithium-ion battery and is currently available in the market, has an initial market price of Rs. 41 lakh and Rs. 99 thousand. Tigor EV costs 33 lakh, 99 thousand rupees. According to the firm, these prices are subject to change. These automobiles are expected to increase in value by 5 to 5%.
7. Citroen
Sangrila Motors Pvt. Ltd., the official Citroen distributor in Nepal, is gearing up to debut the Citroen E-C3. According to the business, it will be available in Nepal in July 2023. The new Citroen E-C3 will be offered in two trim levels: ‘Live’ and ‘Feel with Pack Vive’. Its initial market price is 32 lakh, 99 thousand rupees, and 34 lakh, 99 thousand rupees. The electric motor of the Citroen E-C3 produces 57 PS and 143 Nm of torque.
